Roll introduction
There are two meanings for roll. One meaning is to roll the film which has the same meaning with “roll paper”, “roll cloth”, “roll things” and is more professional in the word application. Another meaning is that roll is the uniform name for pocketing package roll in packaging industry. It is also the most common usage.

The first meaning is used much wider in agriculture, industry even our daily life. In the field of agriculture, it refers to an operation in warm house film, ground film, etc. which is generally used in the phrase of “Roller”. In industry, it usually refers to a process in the manufacturing of roll. In package field, simply it refers to the packaging film supplied in roll. In our daily life, the application of roll (refresh film) often refers to this word.

There is no strict definition for roll in packaging industry. There is only one way that accepted by the people in the field. Simply it means the rolled packaging film. For the enterprises specializing in the manufacturing of the package, compared with producing the finished bags, there is only one process less. The material is the same with the plastic packaging bags. The most common ones are PVC shrink roll, OPP roll, PE roll, PET roll, compound roll, etc. The roll is used in automatic packaging machine, such as shampoo packaged in bags, some wet wipes and so on all adopt this packaging mode. To adopt roll, the cost will be low. But the automatic packaging machine will be needed. In addition, we can also see another kind of application of roll in our daily life. For example, there are automatic packaging machines outside the shops which sell the milk tea and porridge. The film which is used to seal is roll. The most common roll package is bottle package and they usually adopt heat shrink roll, such as some cola, mineral water, etc, especially non-cylinder strange shape bottles are usually adopted heat shrink roll.

The main advantage for roll in the packaging industry is to save cost during the packaging process. The roll is used in the automatic packaging machinery. No more seal work will be needed for the manufacturer. Only one-step seal operation will be needed. So the manufacturer can only conduct printing operation. More over, the cost will be lowered due to the roll will be transported in roll. The appearance of roll simplified the plastic packaging process into three steps “print ---- transport ---- seal” which lowered the cost of the whole industry and it is the first choice for the small scale companies.
